UPDATE...
Joel and I received a call this morning informing us of how Freckles is doing. We are Very pleased to inform ya'll. While Freckles was enjoying a walk with his family(Mocha included), they were confronted by a large dog. This strange dog aggressively approached Mocha and Freckles immediately jumped in the middle and forced the dog back. His family was so proud! They said that he has been doing fantastic, playing well with the girls and still having enough energy to rough house with their dad. And minding the manners Joel and I were able to teach him. We couldn't be happier!

In one of my former posts I mentioned Max, the little Shih Tzu doggie that we found, fostered and then adopted to a family with two loving parents and adorable daughters. We were able to find such a great home thanks to the rescue group we joined, Friends Forever of North Texas. I love dog rescues, however, many 'rescues' do not do due diligence when adopting a pup to a family. We are fortunate to partner with a group that heavily screens any potential family. In addition as the foster family we have the opportunity to meet with the family and evaluate their how suited they are for a specific dog. The high standards of FFNT falls right in line with our values and we are SO thrilled to have found the organization.
I know many out there may think I am nuts for taking in more dogs when I have my own handful. However you should see the bright side, when I do see a pup running out and fail to find its home I now have a way to get the word out. I don't have to make the dreaded decision of sending him/her to local shelter or keeping them, both of which just don't cut it for me or Joel. I get to know that I can train this pup how to live with a family, to be house trained, kennel trained, and learn the ins and outs of its personality so the potential adoptive family know ALL the positives and Negatives of this adorable face.
Since that time Joel and I have had to opportunity to foster two more dogs. Our Second Foster was Freckles. A large boy who is about the size of Smithers. He joined our family several weeks ago and we got to teach him how to live inside a home with a family. He quickly learned all that he needed to, a tribute to his keen mind(he is one smart pup!)
Yesterday we took Freckles to his forever home. His family does not live too far from us (we offered to dog sit whenever, as he is a joy to have around). It was such a great day! We showed him around their home, introduced him to the guinea pigs, by which he was quite intrigued. The girls did SO well with him... it was fabulous. He has a beautiful yard we know he will enjoy with his new brother Mocha.
