Slumber Parties

This weekend was a huge milestone. Not only did I watch Brendan and Sofia but they spent the night. We were all prepared for Sofia to get upset at bed time and need to go home. However this amazing little girl surpassed all of our expectations. Not only did she not cry, but she did not even waiver.

Sofia, Joel and I are SO Proud of you!

Then to top it all off, this little girl decided to start swimming!

Sofia, you are making all sorts of progress...

I know your mommy and daddy must be thrilled beyond belief!

YAY! SOFIA!

There's an elephant in the room
It is large and squatting, so it is hard to get around it.
Yes we squeezed by with, "How are you?" and "I'm fine."
And a thousand other forms of trivial chatter.
We talk abou the weather.
We talk about work.
We talk about everything else
-except the elephant in the room.

There's an elephant in the room.
We all know it is there.
We are thinking about the elephant as we talk.
It is constantly on our minds.
For you see, it is a very big elephant.
But we do not talk about the elephant in the room.
Oh, please, say his name.
Oh, please, say "Jacob" again.

Oh, please, lets talk about the elephant in the room.
For if we talk about his death,
Perhaps we can talk about his life.
Can I say "Jacob" and not have you look away?
For if I cannot, you are leaving me
Alone.....in a room.....
With an elephant.
