The Race to Heaven

We all know that Jacob, having his mothers competitive spirit, just couldn't stand to lose the race to Heaven. When he beat us there, Misti explained to Sofia that Jacob was in Heaven now. She understood that I was sad and missed Jacob; and apparently so does she. Yesterday afternoon she informed me that we needed to fix things. Here's what needs to be done according to Sofia:

"Jacob in Heaven. Joy pick up Jacob. I go too. Me hold Jacob" What she means is that we need to drive to Heaven, much like we do to pick up Brendan from school. Pick up Jacob from Heaven and then she wants to hold him. It was SO cute.

Even cuter was listening to Brendan, irritated that Sofia didn't understand, try to explain that we cant go pick up Jacob.

I tell you, I work with two of the most understanding people:

Brendan and Sofia.

Please help Miss Joy and Joel feel better, so they're not so sad.
Please take care of Baby Jacob in Heaven.
Tell him how much Miss Joy and Joel love him and miss him.
Give him a hug and a kiss.
(Sometime he would add in "We love you Baby Jacob.")

There's an elephant in the room
It is large and squatting, so it is hard to get around it.
Yes we squeezed by with, "How are you?" and "I'm fine."
And a thousand other forms of trivial chatter.
We talk abou the weather.
We talk about work.
We talk about everything else
-except the elephant in the room.

There's an elephant in the room.
We all know it is there.
We are thinking about the elephant as we talk.
It is constantly on our minds.
For you see, it is a very big elephant.
But we do not talk about the elephant in the room.
Oh, please, say his name.
Oh, please, say "Jacob" again.

Oh, please, lets talk about the elephant in the room.
For if we talk about his death,
Perhaps we can talk about his life.
Can I say "Jacob" and not have you look away?
For if I cannot, you are leaving me
Alone.....in a room.....
With an elephant.
